Does canopy angle influence radiation use efficiency of sugar beet?

چکیده
Sugar beet varieties differ greatly in their canopy architecture and can be classified into types according to petiole angle. Leaf angle is one of the key factors which determines efficiency with plant canopies utilise incident absorbed light for photosynthesis. yield strongly correlated accumulated intercepted but impact on interception, biomass accumulation sugar has not been explored. This study aims analyse these relationships also determine if selected high radiation use (RUE) yields. Field trials were conducted four 2019 (one upright, prostrate two intermediate types) six 2021 (two each intermediate, prostrate) as well alternate sowing treatment (upright rows). Varietal differences stable across season consistent between closure final harvest 2021. The upright type had a lower maximum cover modelled from expansion curves both years. was slower achieve LAI at There linear relationship total all types. highest RUE when harvested later 2021, possibly due being better suited intercept sunlight during winter months sun sky. root shoot ratio greater yielding variety suggesting that, addition RUE, partitioning an important determinant yield. results this will aid selection improve Whilst contributing factor beet, other factors, such leaf level photosynthesis are important.

extinction coefficient (k) is an important index that shows the rate of light decrease in canopy. net biomass accumulation is linearly related to cummulative light interception. the slope of this relationship is termed radiation use efficiency. a split plot experiment within randomized complete block design with three replications was conducted in april 2001 in sugar beet research station in ka...

SUGARCANE and sugar beet are the important sources of sugar. This foodstuff, wldcli today is one of the purest and cheapest in our dietary, two centuries ago was a luxury available only to the rich. The story of the rise of sugar production to meet an ever-increasing demand is a romance of agriculture and chemistry. The accomplishments of the plant breeder and the chemical engineer in making th...
متن کاملSugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.).
Creating transgenic plants is invaluable for the genetic analysis of sugar beet and will be increasingly important as sugar beet genomic technologies progress. A protocol for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of sugar beet is described in this chapter. Our protocol is optimized for a sugar beet genotype that performs exceptionally well in tissue culture, including the steps of dedifferentia...
